Ok, so I'm one day early on starting my month but we had no toilet paper and had even used all the napkins I stash from fast food restaurants. I also knew we had ice on its way and I don't drive in that stuff so I knew I wouldn't get out tomorrow.
I went to Aldi's and spent $41.53. I finally broke down and bought a large package of paper towels. There are eight of them but they'll last me forever. I feel guilty if I use them haphazardly. I also got cat food there. The bag should last a month of more but I've never tested how long it lasts so we'll start from today with a new bag and see how long it lasts.
I got some fresh veggies, potatoes, and onions. I also got stuff to make tacos and a cornish hen that I can cook and eat on all day tomorrow since the hubby doesn't really like to eat stuff on a bone. I know, I don't get it either, but I am trying to break him of this unusual habit that affects my ability to eat chicken on a bone every night.
We did have tacos tonight and it tends to be a very frugal meal for us. I use half a pound of ground beef and half a pound of ground turkey. I do this alot, mixing the ground beef and turkey. Partly so the hubby doesn't freak over his lack of red meat and partly because one pound of ground beef and one pound of ground turkey is cheaper than two pounds of ground beef.
I made the tacos, which were delicious thank you very much, then I used the left over taco meat mixture to make a pot of taco soup. One meal becomes two and I can freeze that soup for another time.
I also still have half a pound of ground beef and half a pound of turkey left over. I think I'm going to mix them with some finely chopped veggies tommorrow and make some meatballs.
I now have $258 dollars left for this months grocery shopping. I'm going to sit down tomorrow and plan what I need to buy each week and split the money up each week so I don't overspend like I did last month!
